This cartoon, by Michael Ramirez, was published back in April but it didn’t make it into our local paper until May and I didn’t flip through the edition it was in until today. All the same, it could have been printed today and had the same impact.
If the goons in congress would have allowed us to drill 30 years ago we may have been in a different spot today than where we actually are. Maybe it’s about time they stop saying the same thing they have been saying for 30 years and start doing something. Sure, it will be a few years before the oil would get to market, but it will get to market eventually. There is absolutely nothing we can do that will immediately affect prices. So lets do something that will have a shot at it relatively soon.
After all, last week when President Bush lifted the executive ban on offshore drilling oil prices dropped. Just from talking about drilling. Imagine what kind of price drop there could be if congress agreed, and someone actually started drilling. We could see $3.00 gas again in the next five years.
Man, just saying that hurts my wallet. I’m begging for $3.00 gas. What a world.
