After I slightly talked up the US Women’s softball team in my last post they went and let me down. After totally kicking butt all the way through the Olympics the team went and lost in the gold medal game last night to Japan, 3-1. As if it weren’t bad enough that they lost, according to si.com, they lost to a pitcher that had pitched 21 innings the day before.
That’s just wrong.
We won’t get to see the Japanese team try to defend their fluke gold at the next Olympics however, because, despite the fact that rythmic gymnastics, skeet shooting, and equestrian dressage remain in the Olympics, softball and baseball are being kicked out. What a world.
