DC Gun Ban

Today the Supreme Court heard arguments about the Second Amendment to the Constitution for only the second time in the history of our great nation. The Second Amendment which reads, “A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed.”

There are two different views of this clause. One is that it says people have the right to bear arms and the right to form a well regulated Militia for the security of the state. The other says it means the people have a right to form a Militia and have the right to be armed if they are a part of that militia.

Personally, I believe individuals have the right to own and keep a gun in their home for personal use. If I felt the need to have a gun in my home, I would not want anyone trying to stop me, including my government.

Do I believe that any thug out there that wants a gun should be able to have one? Absolutely not.

Do I believe that there need to be firmer gun control laws out there?

Yes I do.

All that being said, check out the articles below that discuss Washington DC’s ban on personally owned hand guns that is being reviewed by the court and form some of your own opinions.
