College World Series

Well, though I would normally pull for any SEC team over any other team in a college sports event, I have to say I was rooting for Fresno State over Georgia in this one.  What can I say?  I love an underdog.

Fresno State entered the College World Series finals as the lowest seeded team to ever make it to an NCAA tournament final.  Ever.

And then they won it.

The lost game one late in a shocker, and were trailing in game two 5-0 before turning the series around.  They came back to win game two and then went on to thump Georgia 6-1 in game three.

So my congrats go out to them.  They came out of nowhere and did what no one has ever done before.

As a Georgia Bulldog fan, I was saddened by our loss but congratualations to Fresno St. and their fans. Was Fresno St. really the underdog? Georgia had 24 losses this season and were not expected to be there. How many games did Fesno St. lose?

Fresno State’s record after last night is 47-31. I don’t know how many loses they had in the tournament besides game 1 to Georgia, but they were the worse team. Add in the fact that being the last seed in their region sets them, according to SI.com, as an equivalent to a 13-16 seed in the basketball tournament. Georgia was #8 in the tourney overall. Fresno was the definite underdog. They said in the game last night that coming into the tourney, Fresno’s offense was ranked 102 in the country.

Your Bulldogs fought hard, but it just wasn’t their turn I guess.
